About the Author

"Not with my uncle, nephew, niece or dad, I am strong and I will get MAD!"

"THOSE ARE MY PRIVATE PARTS!"

There is an epidemic in this country. We all have a responsibility to teach the children in our lives how to protect themselves.

A convicted child molester was quoted, "Parents shouldn't be embarrassed to talk about things like this-it is harder to abuse or trick a child who knows what you're up to."

Diane Hansen started Empowerment productions as a tool for herself and others to help, teach and protect their children. Diane was inspired after viewing an interview with Jake Goldenflame, a convicted child molester, on the Oprah Winfrey show.  Jake explained what perpetrators think and how they use secret tactics to trick your children into having sex.

Diane began extensive research and found an epidemic of child molestation in this country.  She was terrified and began asking herself how she would protect her own children.  Soon she began writing silly rhymes and placing them around her house to help teach her children and eventually realized she had the beginnings of a wonderful tool for other parents, teachers and caretakers to teach their children.

"Those Are MY Private Parts!" is a short and easy to read book filled with rhymes that make it easy for children to learn that no one, not an aunt or uncle, friend or neighbor, has any right to touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable.  Diane believes that we can empower our children to say, "THOSE ARE MY PRIVATE PARTS!"  It's time to teach our children about appropriate touch and sex before the molesters do.

I am a survivor of sexual abuse and now operate a non profit helping and rescuing victims of polygamist sexual slavery. Over the last several years I have also become a child advocate for children victimized in the worst way, by our legal system, after suffering sexual abuse. I wanted to share something with you that I found and which I KNOW works to empower children against sexual abuse BEFORE it happens.

I ran across a book named THOSE ARE MY PRIVATE PARTS and fell in love with this book. Written by Diane Hansen, a mother looking for a way to protect her children, in a sort of Dr. Suess rhyme, I know this book works because of the results of experiences I have had with it. Please review this book and offer this as an option to you site viewers as I can promise it will open the doors to communication and security for all children. I have written two examples of the results below.

Every home in America needs this book in it. Every School, Day Care Center, Library, Dr. Office, Shelter, and every other place where we must sit and wait or that cares for children.

I have been helping survivors of Sexual Abuse for twenty years and for the first time I feel I have a tool to prevent abuse rather than just trying to fix the damages done by these monsters. I will relate two stories about the success of this book from my personal experiences.

* Names are changed to protect the survivors.

1) After working a case of molestation where a thirteen year old cousin who was visiting from out of state molested seven children I had offered everything I could think of to the family of one victim, an eleven year old boy. Jared* has been angry and violent since this nightmare began and is constantly getting into fights at school as he hates to be touched now.

Jared and I became somewhat close when I became his advocate during the court process and when I found this book I wondered what his response to it would be so I took the book to his home and asked Jared for his opinion.

Jared has a learning disability and has a hard time reading and his parents were worried about me showing the book to him as he always gets angry when someone tries to talk with him about this issue but I went ahead and showed him the book. Jared's Mom had just had a new baby girl one week before I went over and she was asleep in my arms when Jared sat beside me and read this book out loud, struggling through the words. When Jared finished reading I asked him what he thought of the book and his response was this: "If somebody would have read me this book I would not have been hurt by John.*" "If someone would have read this to Suzie* (another victim who is three years old) she would not have been hurt either."

I asked if he wanted the book and he said, "Yes, If I had this book I could protect my new sister and nobody could hurt her" so I gave him the book and Jared hugged that book and took it to his room stating "I will read it to my sister every night."

You see, by giving this book to this survivor I think he feels like he has been given a little of his power back and I do think that he will be able to protect his sister with this important book.

2) Being a survivor of sexual abuse myself I was concerned when I learned that my abuser, my father, had moved very close to a brother who has three small children. I spoke with my brother and sister in law, Carla*. Carla has been worried and has been trying to talk with her children about sexual abuse ever since I spoke with her but felt she was not getting through to the kids. I took a copy of the book up to Carla and the following night Carla came to me with tears in her eyes and this is what she told me:

"After getting the book from you I came home and read it to my kids. After I was done Jason* (Carla's four year old son) said "Mom, you mean when Tom* (a six year old neighbor boy) comes over to play and he makes me go out to the shed and pull my pants down and makes me kiss his pee pee and he plays with mine, I can get mad and tell him "No, Those are my private parts?" I looked at Carla and said, "Oh no." Carla was just smiling and said, "I did not know if I was getting through to my kids and now I do. With that book my kids finally understand what I did not know how to tell them." With tears in her eyes Carla told me, "You saved my kids by giving us that book and I plan to read it to them every night and I also plan to take it to all my sisters and read it to their kids." Carla gave me a hug and said "Thank you for caring enough to help break the cycle of abuse." Carla's children when next I saw them and asked if I could read them the book came over and sat down and every time I read THOSE ARE MY PRIVATE PARTS those children shouted that out with me and I knew that they would be OK because their Mother loved them enough to read them the book and I loved them enough to give them the book.

Thank you Diane for the means of protecting the children. This is the most powerful book I have ever seen and will continue to recommend that everyone share this book with their own children.
