Sexual Molestation is the crime of sexual acts with children up to the age of 18, including touching of private parts, exposure of genitalia, taking of pornographic pictures, rape, inducement of sexual acts with the molester or with other children and variations of these acts by pedophiles.

Molestation also applies to incest by a relative with a minor family member and any unwanted sexual acts with adults short of rape.

One out of three girls and one out of six boys are sexually molested and/or assaulted in the United States before the age of 18.

There are currently an estimated 3 million children being abused in this country.

Studies show for every one case of child molestation reported there at least two that go unreported. We all have a responsibility to teach the children in our lives how to protect themselves.

Convicted rape and sexual assault offenders serving time in state prisons report that two-thirds of their victims were under the age of 18.

Among rape victims less than 12 years of age, 90% of the children knew the offender, according to police-recorded incident data.
